THE PEOPLE’S EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY CONTINUES TO LEAD YOUTH EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES IN PUJEHUN DISTRICT* As part of the key objectives of PEDA, the organization has undertaken a number of youth programs to sensitize the youth about the need for self empowerment for their self growth for an improved livelihoods, and to also implement projects that are of essence for their livelihoods. PEDA has embarked on planting Palm tree and coconut at the Benga Community in Pujehun District, where large seeds of coconuts have been bought by the organization and distributed among the various youth groups within the township of Benga. This is part of the male project, while the female project which involves supplying of cassava stems and seedlings for cassave farming and garri processing has also been undertaken in the same community to improve on the sustainable livelihoods of women in the same community. At Yikandor Community in Kpanga Chiefdom, Pujehun District, PEDA has undertaken a ground project. The community social group has been provided with groundnut, which is part of the organization’s goals to support agricultural projects in operational areas of PEDA. PEDA will continue to work with all parties to help improve on agriculture and the welfare of communities across its operational areas in Pujehun District.
